Long-term mortgage rates hit record low

The national average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 4.85% - the lowest it has been since 1971. Last year at this time, the national average was 5.85%.

In Colorado, the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage was today 5.03% - almost 2 percentage points difference compared to last year - which amounts to a savings of about $225 in monthly mortgage payments for a $200,000 loan.
